What results from the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills say about AACS:
  • Our school is in the top 2 percent of schools in the nation that take this test.
  • In a recent five year span, Ann Arbor Christian third through eighth graders tested 3.6 grade levels above the national average on all tests in all subject areas.
  • Students at AACS typically grow more than 1.6 grade levels academically per year from third through eighth grade.
  • Each year we are typically 12% above the Christian Schools International (CSI) average – our peer group.

The National Center for Education Statistics has found that in general private school students score higher than public school students in reading and math.  (Comparing Private Schools and Public Schools Using Hierarchical Linear Modeling, National Center for Education Statistics, July 2006.)  The Iowa Test of Basic Skills given to students in the first through eighth grades at AACS support this statistic.

With nearly 100% of AACS students taking the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills, our results consistently demonstrate a proficiency in skills that is well above the national average for both public and private schools.  Our most recent composite grade equivalent (G. E.) results were as follows:

Grade Level     AACS G. E. Composite Score     Years Averaged
        1                                       2.5                                   2009-2010

The national average for each grade level would be that grade level plus point seven (.7).  For example, the national average for third grade would be 3.7 and fourth grade would be 4.7 (see below).  As you can observe in our classrooms each day and via our annual national testing results, AACS has a history of outstanding academic achievement.  We attribute this to several key components of our daily school life:
    • effective prayer,
    • teaching the whole child,
    • the teacher-created curriculum,
    • great parental involvement, and
    • our thorough focus on God in all areas of study.
