What results from the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills say about AACS:
The National Center for Education Statistics has found that in
general private school students score higher than public school
students in reading and math. (Comparing Private Schools and Public Schools Using Hierarchical Linear Modeling, National Center for Education Statistics, July 2006.) The Iowa Test of Basic Skills given to students in the first through eighth grades at AACS support this statistic.
With nearly 100% of
AACS students taking the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills, our results consistently demonstrate a proficiency in skills that is well above the national
average
for both public and private schools. Our most recent composite grade equivalent (G. E.) results were as follows:
Grade Level AACS G. E. Composite Score Years Averaged
1 2.5 2009-2010
2 4.0 2009-2010
3 5.4 2004-2010
4 6.9 2004-2010
5 8.9 2004-2010
6 10.5 2004-2008, 2010
7 12.5 2004-2010
8 13+ 2005-2010
The national average for each grade level would be that grade level plus point seven (.7). For example, the national average for third grade would be 3.7 and fourth grade would be 4.7 (see below). As you can observe in our classrooms each day and via our annual national testing results, AACS has a history of outstanding academic achievement. We attribute this to several key components of our daily school life:
