School Board and Committees

The Ann Arbor Christian School Board and committee members are a vital part of our parent-sponsored school. They partner with teachers and staff to ensure that the school is following its vision and mission.

School Board

The Christian School Association of Ann Arbor Board of Directors is elected by the school association, which is made up of parents and school supporters.  As trustees, the seven board members seek to:

  • Uphold the school's vision of a Christian community and continually advance the school's stated mission.
  • Govern the school by overseeing the standing committees' activities and setting policies that help the school fulfill its mission.
  • Encourage parents, teachers and staff to offer an academically excellent curriculum that challenges students to develop their God-given gifts.
  • Provide continuity to the school, treasuring its heritage, guiding its present path, and planning for its future.

Committees

There are six standing committees, and other committees that work on specific projects, like fund raising or capital campaigns.

The Development Committee works to ensure the school's long-term financial strength and viability. Tasks include encouraging and directing charitable support of the school, managing capital campaigns, developing new revenue sources, and communicating needs to the school's support base. chair TBD

The Education Committee serves as a voice for families, and a resource and sounding board for teachers and staff. It also raises and researches education-related matters, and makes recommendations to the board. The committee considers all the school's educational programs, practices, and policies. The Finance Committee oversees money matters at AACS, including budgeting, operational and capital spending, and cash flow, as well as debt and investment management. The school board treasurer serves on this committee and keeps the board apprised of the committee's actions and recommendations. Rob Westphal, chair

The Public Relations Committee works with the principal, teachers, board, and parents to promote the school. Committee members maintain the school's website, place ads in various area magazines and newspapers, and publish The Beacon newsletter three times a year. Pam Gossiaux, chair

The Information Technology Committee supports and enables the use of technology at AACS. With significant input from teachers and staff, members help provide solutions to their needs and looks for areas where technology can help.
